Hello, Connie Nichol here today with a very simple layout that uses minimal supplies – basically just cardstock!  If you have an electronic die cutting machine like the Sizzix Eclips2, you really don’t need much else. This layout is totally about the Sunflower cut file from Quietfire Design.  I fell in love with it when I saw it, and what better page embellishment for sunflower photos?  I was so excited last year when a friend told me about a nearby sunflower field.  You can of course customize the colours and size of the flowers as you see fit so it is a very versatile file. I cut the flowers and the title out with a Sizzix Eclips 2.  I opened the svg file, ungrouped the shapes and cut them out of different colours of cardstock.  They were so pretty I didn’t want to add a lot of other ‘stuff’…

Connie created the hearts on her card using Saran Wrap, Ranger glossy paper and Close To My Heart re-inkers!  To create the textured background she used Ranger texture paste, a Dylusions stencil and Close To My Heart re-inkers! Hello, Connie Nichol here today with a layout featuring ‘Inside the Lines Designer Series Paper from Stampin’ Up! This paper is a free item in the Sale-A-Bration campaign that ends March 31, 2017, so hurry if you want some!!!  If you’re not familiar with Sale-A-Bration, you get free items from a special catalogue with every $60 you spend ($50 for my American friends), so it’s a great time of year to stock up on Stampin’ Up!  products. The pack of free paper comes with 12 sheets, 3 each of 4 designs that you can colour with whatever you want!  Pencil crayons, markers, watercolours….. colour a little, or colour a lot! I decided to colour my paper with Chameleon pens.  These are SO cool.  They are alcohol ink markers that allow you to create a variety of shades from just one pen.  So all the shades of pink and green that you…

Hello, Connie Nichol here today with a layout featuring a selection of dies from Elizabeth Craft Designs. I used the Butterfly 1 die from Elizabeth Craft Designs and the Believe patterned paper collection from BoBunny to cut a swarm of winged insects from bits of patterned paper (a great way to use up scraps)! This was about the fourth layout I’ve created with the Believe collection.  I just adore the colours – they are so bright and happy and versatile! As an aside, here’s a layout I did for the Quietfire Design Digital blog using the same papers.  Totally different look. Anyway, for the Baby Love layout, I started with a plain piece of white cardstock and just spritzed a little Dylusions spray ink from Ranger on kind of a diagonal line to add a bit of interest to the background.  Then I added the title cut using a brand new…

Hi, Connie Nichol here today with a bright and cheerful scrapbook page featuring Close to my Heart products. My kids and I travelled to Germany last summer with friends and had the best time.   And took a lot of pictures.  Ha!  You’ll be seeing a of them as I slowly get them scrapbooked. This layout started with the Happy thin cuts die from CTMH. I coloured the die cut with Chameleon alcohol ink markers and then added three coats of Ranger clear embossing powder to make the words glossy and dimensional.  You can see how to do this step by step in the Creative Scrapbooker Technique Taster’s Web Show #105 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5NnLYeAYb6A&t=6s It’s easy to do and looks very cool. I used patterned paper from the Close To My Heart Adventure Fundamentals line – so bright and colourful – and coordinating die cuts from the Good Life Fundamentals packet.   …

Hello, Connie Nichol here with a quick layout with one of my favourite photos from a trip to the Mayan Riviera a few years ago.  Just looking at it brings back the feel of the tropical sun and the smell of the ocean.  Sigh. I used a couple of products from Creative Memories Travel Collection to create this layout –  the solid core cardstock (I used lime green) and the matching cool serenity travel embellishments are perfect for scrapbooking beach vacation photos while the Bubbles Border maker cartridge adds a whimsical edge .       I spotted a Dina Wakley Bullseye stencil from Ranger Industries in my stash and used it to create the large round embellishments which in real life have very cool texture. I taped the stencil to a piece of cardstock and applied Mustard Seed and Mowed Lawn distress inks with a sponge applicator. Then, with the…

Hello, Connie Nichol here today with  a layout inspired by the monochromatic days of a northern Alberta winter.  I used black and white because that’s pretty much the only colours I see right now when I look outside.  Sigh.  But soon the days will get longer and it won’t be long before the snow melts and the grass turns green again.  Yes, I am an eternal optimist. I made myself a triangle template out of a scrap of paper and used it to cut the patterned paper and photos into large triangles which form the basis of the layout. The paper is the Uptown Fundamentals line from  Close to My Heart.  This paper (and other matching products) are a gorgeous and versatile black, white and gold colour and is available from the Annual Inspirations Catalogue from CTMH.  I used the Framework Alphabet Acrylic Stamps to stamp the title and the paper…
